Little Horkesley Parish Council

Welcome to the Little Horkesley Parish Council website.

Little Horkesley is a small rural parish, of only 170 souls, situated four miles to the north of Colchester on the southern bank of the Stour. A large part of the village is within the boundary of the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Beauty and enjoys some stunning views across the Vale towards Nayland, Stoke by Nayland and, in the other direction, Wormingford.

The impetus to create this website arises from the Government’s drive towards transparency in all matters of government at the local level. Therefore, included on the website are details of the actions of the Parish Council as recorded in the monthly agenda and minutes and information on all income and expenditure incurred by the Council.

However, a secondary and important aim is to provide information and guidance on a wide range of services available within the parish and elsewhere.

Representing a rural parish, the Council has a positive approach towards protecting and enhancing the countryside and, therefore, offer support to the Campaign to Protect Rural England and the Dedham Vale Society.

The Council needs to know the views of members of our community and your comments are more than welcome on
